Wednesday, May 22nd:

  • Examine a series of articles from Issues and Controversies that explore an issue
  • Students read the articles to find evidence to support their argument and evidence that supports the counter argument
  • Students create a chart in groups of 3 or 4 to make a list of argument and counter-argument evidence
    • Students should use a device app (or traditional method--chart paper) to record the evidence and the source material
  • Then, students will make a short, under 3 minute "talkie" video in their group that does all of the following, in order
    • 1--Present the issue in general and discuss its historical / social importance and context
    • 2--Present the group's argument/claim in regards to the issue
    • 3--Present at least 2 pieces of evidence from 2 different sources (sources must be cited) that support their claim
    • 4--Acknowledge the alternative argument
    • 5--Provide a clear reason AND a piece of cited evidence for the alternative argument
    • 6--Somehow refute the evidence or reason for the alternative/counter argument by
      • Either citing evidence that "undoes" the evidence of the alternative/counter argument
      • Or attack the "logic/reasoning" behind the reason for or the evidence of the alternative/counter argument

Due by the end of the Day on Thursday.
